The course features a range of activities, including a Kata Competition, a Social Evening, and access to Devon’s beautiful sights. It caters to all needs, from practical Instructor Qualification Exams to a First Aid Lecture led by Dr Tim Baker. With a flexible schedule, you can tailor your experience—whether focusing on grading preparation or balancing training with family time.

PARKING INFORMATION FOR THE COURSE
We have special parking arrangements for course attendees. Please collect a parking voucher from the Leisure Centre Reception upon arrival and ensure it is clearly displayed on your dashboard.
Then purchase a 4-hour ticket for £5.10 (reduced from £9), which will cover you for the whole day.
Alternatively you can purchase a 4-day ticket for £24.
PLEASE NOTE : The Sports Centre is a CASHLESS facility.

KYU GRADING ON FRIDAY
Please ensure that you have written permission from your Instructor to grade on the course and, if possible, bring your green grading card.  You must also bring your red Licence Book.  You should speak to the Organiser during the week to book in for your grading.

 
DAN GRADING ON FRIDAY
REGISTERTo register to grade, please go to the KUGB app which can be downloaded from the App Store (Apple users) and the Play Store (Android users). On the App you can access and update your KUGB licence profile, update your licence, book into events and much more.

GRADING FORM
Dan Grade Form
Please complete the form, and remember to attach a passport-sized photo.  Please bring the form with you to the grading.
Forms and licence books must be presented at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the grading.
Please note : Your Instructor MUST complete the permission box on your grading form.
GRADING FEES
1st Dan – £802nd Dan – £90Re-take (Kata or Kumite only): 1st & 2nd Dan – £60
The above fees include a KUGB Dan-grade certificate and registration for successful candidates. Certificates will be sent by post.
Those who fail a Dan grading must wait a minimum of three months before a re-take, except when the examiner specifically states otherwise. In such cases, the required period will be noted on the candidates grading form, and this must be retained by the candidate and produced at the re-take.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DAN GRADING
Gumshields and KUGB-approved white hand-mitts are compulsory for Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite.

During Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite it is compulsory for females aged 12 years and over to wear a chest guard . Females under 12 may wear a chest guard at the discretion of their parent/guardian. During Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite it is compulsory for males aged 12 years and over to wear a groin guard. Males under 12 may wear a groin guard at the discretion of their parent/guardian.
